Case lists

A case is set of information/data for one patient that will be interpreted by a knowledge base. Case lists are how RippleDown segments and organizes the different cases sent from the Online Information System. There are several case lists in the Knowledge Builder that allow you to easily review, edit or action cases, including:

  • Rejected – can be edited
  • New reports – can be edited
  • Favourites – can be edited
  • Cornerstones – cannot edit or delete
  • Archive – cannot edit or delete
  • Search – cannot edit or delete

Detailed overview

  • Rejected contains cases that have had their RippleDown interpretations changed by a Validator, or sent to the Knowledge Builder by an Auditor. Rejected cases are the ones that are most likely to be used when adding new rules to update these interpretations. At most, 1,000 rejected cases will be kept on this list. You can delete a case from the Rejected list once you have dealt with it, e.g. by building rules to amend its report. You cannot edit a case on this list. If you wish to edit a case on this list, copy it to Favourites and then edit it on the Favourites list.
  • New Reports contains cases with reports which have not previously been created within the project. You can allow a specific report for a case on this list using the Allow button on the Preview window. Once you allow a report from this list, the case is automatically removed from the New Reports list. Only the most recent 100 cases will be kept on the New Reports list.
  • Favourites are interesting cases that you would like to keep or cases you need to modify in order to build a specific rule. You can copy or move a case from one of the other lists to the Favourites list. Once a case is on the Favourites list it can be edited, for example, to change a sample value. There is no limit to the number of cases on the Favourites list.
  • Cornerstones are the cases from which rules have been built against. These are stored in the project as references for future rules. You cannot edit or delete a case from this list. You can however copy a case to the Favourites. There is no limit to the number of cases on the Cornerstone list.
  • Archive are cases that have been received from the Online Information System, such as Laboratory Information System or EMR. You cannot edit or delete a case from this list, however you can copy a case to the Favourites folder. At most, 10,000 archived cases will be kept on this list.
  • Search are cases which have been found using the search for cases functionality. You cannot edit a case on this list.
