If the server is unable to accept a communications message from the online information system (e.g. a corrupt hl7 message) then the text of the message will be stored as a file in the server’s error directory. this is a fixed directory called “error” that is automatically created under the server’s backup directory, e.g.
Each file will be named according to the date and time the communications problem was detected, with a text file extension (.txt). for example: 250609 0833.txt.
A maximum of 200 error files will be stored. once this maximum is reached, any additional error file that is stored will cause the oldest error file to be deleted.
As well as keeping an error file corresponding to the communications message, the server will create a log entry indicating that a message from the online information system could not be processed, as well as indicating the name of the corresponding error file.
