The system can be configured to allow a Validator or Auditor client to request that a specified image file (e.g. a scanned request form) be shown on pressing the Alt F9 key, or by using a menu.

There are several ways this can be set up, depending on the configuration of your IT network and the RippleDown interface:

  • The easiest way is to configure the RippleDown interface to send the fully qualified file name of the image in each case, e.g. ImageServerimages9P123456.tif. From the Support menu of the Knowledge Builder (contact PKS to enable the Support menu), open the relevant project, and use the menu “Set image lookup attribute” to identify which attribute you have associated with the image file name. See here for more information on this.
Each Auditor or Validator user for that project will now be able to use the menu item “Display request form” under the “Action” menu when reviewing a case. Note: the association of file type to viewing application must be set up for the client workstation. For example, if the images are “tif” files, then on a Windows workstation, the file type “tif” could be associated with the Windows Fax Viewer.
  • In some situations, the case sent by the Online Information System contains a key piece of information (such as the case name) from which a path to the case can be deduced, rather than the full path. In these circumstances, a Calculated Value Attribute that describes the full path to the case must be built, as described here.
  • It may also arise that the cases are to be viewed with a proprietary application, which is installed on the client workstation, and which takes some key information (such as the lab number of the case) as a parameter. Again, a Calculated Value Attribute can be set up to launch the viewing application, as described here.
  • If your site uses the Surity ImageLink(tm) product (the thick client, not the newer web-based Silverlight application),
add the Server setting “IMAGE_PROFILE_PORT=port” to identify the corresponding TCP port that imagelink is listening on.
Upon activation of the menu item “Display request form”, the name of the case currently being reviewed will be sent to ImageLink which, in turn, will display that image. For sites using the newer Surity web application, a Calculated Value Attribute defining the URI for the case image can be built as descrived above.
