The flagging comments that are shown on cases that are presented in the Auditor have been added using rules. Sometimes these rules are too general. It is possible to send inappropriately flagged cases back to the RippleDown Knowledge Manager so that the rules can be adjusted.

Start the training script. The Auditor should be showing with a single queue called “DEA3” that has just one case waiting.

  1. Start reviewing cases, and wait for a case to show.
  2. Suppose you can be sure that there is no confusion over the doctor, without looking at the case in the Online Information System. For example, suppose that Dr Robert Browning never sees patients from this patient’s ward. In this situation, the comment is of no value and causes ‘false positive’ cases to be flagged.
  3. From the ‘Action’ menu choose ‘Send to project’.
  4. A small window will prompt you for a note explaining why the case should not have been flagged. Type in a note that tells the person building the rules which comment is inappropriate and why. For example, type “Never Browning for 2.PB wards so no confusion possible” and click ‘OK’.
  5. This case will now be sent to the Knowledge Manager, with your note, where the rules can be adjusted so that cases like this (that is, from wards 2.PB) are not flagged.
  6. Close the Case Viewer.

Finish the tutorial by typing “quit” at the command prompt.
