The Translator is the RippleDown client component used for translating the comments, headings and attribute names in a Knowledge Base into different languages. A Translator user is authorised by the administrator to provide translations for a particular Knowledge Base and a particular translation (i.e. language). The Translator user can then login to perform the translation task.

In summary:

  1. The Administrator user first creates a language translation for the project.
  2. The Administrator creates a Translator user account for that project and language.
  3. The Translator user can then start a Translator client and select the project and translation.
  4. The Translator user performs the translation.
  5. The Knowledge Builder user writes a workflow rule to translate reports for particular cases.
  6. As comments change, the Translator user keeps the translations up to date.

In general, translations can be setup to use any language. However, if you are using attribute groups in your comments, certain terms (such as “and”) need to be  automatically generated and translated. Automatic translations for these terms are currently supported for the following languages:

  • Afrikaans
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • French
  • Finnish
  • German
  • Greek
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Slovenian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
