The following diagram shows the general system architecture of the LIS / RippleDown Data Entry Auditor system.
There is only one data transaction between the Laboratory Information System and the RippleDown server, namely the “Request for Interpretation” message shown below. This message is sent whenever a request form is entered into the Laboratory information system by a data entry operator.
The message contains not just the details of the current order, but details of any orders for previous episodes for this patient as well, so that the RippleDown Knowledge Base can more accurately determine if any of the current details are incorrect.
