Note: This facility is only supported by the RippleDown Web Services interface.

RippleDown has the facility to suppress the report that is generated when a case is received from the Laboratory Information System and interpreted by a project. The report sent back to the Laboratory Information System for such a case will be blank.

The advantage of this facility is where you are using several report sections. If you need to suppress a report you can add a single rule to do this, rather than adding rules to disable each report section individually.

To use this facility for a particular project, the recommended steps are as follows:

  1. Create a new report section with the name WORKFLOW, if it has not yet been defined. Do not specify that this heading should appear in the report. This is the same report section that is used for other workflow actions, like sending an email using rules.
    • Prevent any comment in this report section from being included in the textual report, i.e. disable this report section. You do this by right-clicking the report section, choose “Disable Report Section…” and then build a rule with no conditions. You only have to disable the WORKFLOW report section, not any others.
  2. For a case where you want to suppress the report, create a comment in this section in the following format:<SuppressReport>

and add the comment to the report using the appropriate rule.

Since you have disabled the WORKFLOW report section, any <SuppressReport> comment given for a case will not affect the autovalidation status of that case.

Once you have built the rules to suppress a report, you can review cases in the Archive case list to check that the <SuppressReport> comment is being given correctly. If you need to add, replace or remove a <SuppressReport> comment, you can do this with rules in exactly the same way as for a reporting comment.
